How the job goes
AC Installation Close to Home
Every AC installation we do here, residential and commercial, runs through the same load calculation, quote, install and test as any other job of ours.
-
Measure the house
Room by room, the windows, the insulation and the duct runs go into a "Manual J" calculation, and that number picks the size.
-
Put the price on paper
You choose the system and its "SEER rating", the efficiency rating, and the whole job is priced in writing, with no surprise charges after.
-
Set the equipment
The old unit comes out, the new condenser and indoor coil go in on fresh copper lines, and the drain is pitched so the water keeps moving.
-
Run it before we leave
The system goes through a full cooling cycle while we read the supply air and the airflow, and we clean up when the work is done.

The houses in town
Local Homes and Their Cooling Needs
Housing in town leans older, so a new air conditioner usually goes into a house whose ducts and wiring were laid out for the equipment of their day.
That is why the ducts and the electrical panel get looked at before any size is chosen. A leaky or undersized duct run starves a new system, and a larger unit may need its circuit confirmed by an electrician.
Where an older house has a room its ducts never reached, a "ductless mini-split" cools that room without new ductwork.
The air it works in
Weather a System Faces Here
In air this wet, a new system spends much of its effort pulling water out of the house, and an oversized unit that "short cycles" shuts off before it gets there, leaving the rooms cool but clammy.
67in.
Rain in an average year
Moisture comes in with the outside air through every season, and the indoor coil has to wring it out of each room.
-
Where the water goes
All of it leaves through the "condensate line", so the line gets a steady fall and a cleanout that can be flushed at every visit.
-
Where the indoor unit sits
The "air handler" lives in damp air the whole year, so it goes where it can be reached for cleaning, not boxed in behind a wall.
After it is in
Repairs and upkeep, both sides
The same number gets you repairs on the cooling side, the heating side and the service in between.

AC Repair When the Heat Peaks
Repairs pile up in the hottest stretch of summer, when the unit runs from morning to night without a break. Warm air at the vents, a unit that keeps turning on and off, or water around the indoor unit are the signs to call.

HVAC Services Through the Year
A system you expect to live with for years earns a visit before each season: the coils and the drain ahead of summer, the heating side ahead of the cold.

Furnace Repair for the Cold Snaps
Most of these homes call for heat only a few weeks a year, so a furnace can sit untouched for months. A cold snap is when a worn igniter or a dirty flame sensor shows itself, and that is when we get the call.
