What the repair covers
Heat Pump Repair in Biloxi
Heat pump repair on residential and commercial systems gets a heat pump working again when it stops heating, stops cooling or starts leaning on backup heat to keep up.
A heat pump is the outdoor unit and the indoor "air handler" working as a pair. In summer it pulls heat out of the house; in winter the refrigerant runs the other way and carries heat in. The same compressor, coils and fans do the work in every season, so a weak part tends to show up in heating and cooling alike.
That is why we test a heat pump in both modes, not only in the mode that failed on you. A system that is fixed for this week and quits again when the season turns is not repaired.
The calls we take
-
No heat on a cold night
The outdoor unit hums or sits still, and the vents blow air that never warms the rooms.
-
Warm air in summer
The fan runs and the thermostat keeps calling, but the house stays warm and sticky.
-
A power bill that jumps in winter
The electric backup elements are carrying the heating that the heat pump should be doing.
Before it quits
Signs Your Heat Pump Needs Repair
A heat pump on its way to a breakdown usually gives warning ahead of time, and any of these is reason to call for a repair.
- Weak heating or cooling It runs and runs, yet the rooms never reach the number on the thermostat.
- Auxiliary heat runs often The thermostat reads aux or emergency heat for most of the day.
- Ice on the outdoor coil A light winter frost that clears in defrost is normal; a coil that stays white, or ices over in summer, is not.
- The unit keeps turning on and off The trade calls it "short cycling": the system shuts off before the house is comfortable and leaves the air clammy.
When Backup Heat Runs Too Often
A modern heat pump keeps full capacity down to about 25°F, so backup heat that runs often on a mild day has a cause to diagnose.
"Auxiliary heat" is a bank of electric elements in the air handler that steps in when the heat pump needs help in deep cold. Above that point it should sit quiet most of the time. When it comes on anyway, the heat pump may have lost capacity, the coil may be stuck in frost, or a control may be calling for backup it does not need, and the electric elements cost more to run than the heat pump they are covering for.
From the call to a working system
How a Heat Pump Repair Runs
The technician measures pressures and temperatures with the system in heating and in cooling, repairs the failed part, then tests heating and cooling before calling it done.
Any step that opens the refrigerant side is work for a technician certified to handle "refrigerant" under the Clean Air Act rules set by the U.S. EPA.

Tell us what it does
No heat, no cooling, ice on the coil or backup heat that will not shut off. We answer or call back the same working day.
-
Readings, not guesses
Amp draw at the compressor and fan and airflow across the indoor coil sit beside the gauge readings, and together they point to the part that quit.
-
Price before parts
We quote the whole job before we start, with no surprise charges after. The work begins when you say go.
-
Left running right
You see what failed and why, the thermostat goes back the way you like it, and we clean up when the work is done.
We show up when we say we will. (228) 364-8743
Wear from the weather
Humidity and the Outdoor Coil
A heat pump runs in both seasons, so the outdoor coil and the drain need regular care in a humid climate, since a dirty outdoor coil eventually damages the compressor.
An air conditioner gets the winter off. A heat pump does not, so its parts collect the year's dirt and damp without a break. In a Biloxi home, damp air also keeps the indoor side wet: the "air handler" is prone to mold in humid homes, and its drain carries water away the whole time the system cools.
-
The outdoor coil
The "condenser coil" in the outside unit sheds heat in summer and gathers it in winter. Packed with dirt, pollen or grass clippings, it makes the compressor work harder in every season.
-
The drain line
When the "condensate line", the drain pipe from the indoor unit, clogs, water collects around the unit instead of running outside.
What sets the price
Priced when we know the cause
Heat pump repairs vary too much for a figure that means anything before the visit. You get the exact price from the diagnosis, in full, before any part is changed.
- Which part failed, from a capacitor to the compressor
- How old the system is
- How much refrigerant the system holds, when a leak means a recharge
- On an older system, whether a costly part makes a new heat pump the better buy

Heat pump not keeping up? Call us.
Say what you see at the thermostat and at the outdoor unit. We take it from there: the readings, the cause, and a price before any part is changed.
