The whole system

HVAC Services in Biloxi

HVAC work means installing, repairing and maintaining the heating and cooling in homes and commercial buildings, whether that is a split system beside a house or a rooftop unit over a shop.

On a house it is usually a split system: a condenser outside, an "air handler" in the attic or a closet, and copper refrigerant lines between them. Residential and light commercial work also takes in high-efficiency heat pumps, ductless mini splits and "packaged rooftop units", and commercial cooling runs on rooftop units and split systems.

We work on both sides of it: the cooling that runs most of the year, and the heating that only gets asked to do anything for a few weeks of cold.

What we do

Heating and Cooling Work Under One Roof

These are the parts of heating and cooling work, and each one comes through our door:

  • Air conditioning

Central air put in, fixed and serviced: the outside condenser, the indoor coil and the drain line that carries off the water it pulls out of the air.

  • Heat pumps

One outdoor unit that cools in summer and runs in reverse for heat, with "auxiliary heat" as the backup on the coldest nights.

  • Furnaces

Gas furnaces that will not light or blow cold, and the swap to a new one when an old furnace is past fixing.

  • Ductless mini splits

A wall unit and a small "line set" through the wall, for a sunroom, a garage apartment or an addition the ducts never reached.

  • Ductwork

Sealing joints with "mastic", fixing torn runs and checking airflow. New cooling commonly comes with duct work and seasonal maintenance.

  • Thermostats

Wiring and setting the control on the wall so it suits the equipment it runs, heat pump, furnace or straight cooling.

How a Visit Goes

Heating or cooling, a repair or a new system, a job with us runs the same way, and you see the whole price before any of it starts.

  1. You call

We answer, or ring you back the same working day. Calls outside our hours go to voicemail and we return them the next working morning.

  2. We come and look

We show up when we say we will and go over the whole system: the outdoor unit, the indoor unit, the ducts and the thermostat.

  3. A written quote

We quote the whole job before we start, with no surprise charges after. The estimate is free and you are under no obligation.

  4. The work, then cleanup

We do the work, check that the system heats or cools the way it should, and clean up when the work is done.

Licenses, Insurance and Certifications

In this trade, HVAC technicians hold EPA certification, many also hold NATE certification, and the contractor should carry general liability and workers' compensation insurance.

Technicians who work on air conditioners are EPA certified, because handling refrigerant, the stuff most people call Freon, in stationary air conditioning takes technician certification under the Clean Air Act. The rule is published by the U.S. EPA.

"NATE" certification goes a step further: a NATE-certified technician has to meet standards for licensing, expertise and training. And the insurance matters to you directly, since an injury or damage on your property during a job should be the contractor's to cover, not yours. Ask about all three before anyone opens a panel.

Humidity is the job

Humidity and the HVAC System

A long, humid cooling season keeps a system in Biloxi running almost without a break, so the right size and a tune-up in spring and again in fall count for more here.

Central air controls humidity well only when it is properly sized. An oversized unit "short cycles": it keeps turning on and off, cools the room fast and shuts down before it has pulled the moisture out, so the house ends up cool and clammy. The size comes from a load calculation, the "Manual J", not from the label on the old unit.

Running that hard, the small things add up. A dirty "evaporator coil", the indoor coil, cuts cooling; a clogged "condensate line", the AC drain, leaves water around the unit; and the air handler is prone to mold in a humid house. The spring visit catches those before the long stretch of cooling, and the fall visit looks the heat over before the first cold night.
